Den's Dental Blog

Hello! My name is Den. This blog is going to cover a range of dental topics. I am not a dentist or a dental nurse but I have recently undergone a lot of dental treatment. This treatment has given me a great insight into the world of dentistry and I would like to share everything I have learnt with you here. Last year, I developed terrible pain in my mouth. I was diagnosed with severe tooth decay. The dentist removed the problem teeth and then inserted false ones in their place. He also whitened my teeth to improve my smile. I hope you find my blog useful.

How to Deal With Bad Breath

by Myrtle Banks

We all wish to have a bewitching smile with a dazzling dental formula. However, not everyone is lucky to enjoy such a smile and fresh breath. Some do not even know they have bad breath until a courageous friend has the guts to tell them their situation. Bad breath not only affects your confidence levels but also your relationship with other people. Your partner may not have the morale to give you that romantic kiss. Friends may find it difficult to hold a conversation with you. If this is your situation, do not confine your life to misery and low self-esteem. With the following tips, you can reverse the situation.

Improve your dental hygiene

You must know that brushing your teeth twice a day is essential to maintaining good oral hygiene. If you do not do this often enough, bad breath will be part of your lifestyle. Additionally, floss your teeth regularly to get rid of any foods that may be stuck in your gums and between your teeth.

Quit smoking

Forget about those commercials about tooth gels for smokers. They may not do much in addressing your bad breath. Quit the addiction and start your journey to a healthier lifestyle. Who wants to come near a smoker? The stench from tobacco is enough to send your friends gasping for a dose of fresh air. Quitting will be difficult, but it will be worth it.

Professional dental cleaning

How often do you visit a dentist for an oral clean-up? Schedule to visit the hygienist at least every six months. A cleaning will help in eliminating any bacteria build-up in your gums, which is responsible for bad breath. Tooth decay and gum disease may also be detected during the cleaning. That way care can be taken to improve your oral health and bad breath right away.

Change of diet

Do you have a sweet tooth? If you always salivate at the sight of a chocolate cake or pie, you need a diet change. No matter how difficult it may be to drop the habit, try to limit the consumption of sugary foods. They are also not good for your health. If you must munch that cookie, then brush and floss immediately. That way, you will prevent bacteria build-up in the gums.

You do not have to be a fugitive of bad breath. Do not ruin your relationships because of a stinking mouth. Evaluate your lifestyle and check some of the causes of bad breath and work towards achieving better oral hygiene.
