About Me

Den's Dental Blog

Hello! My name is Den. This blog is going to cover a range of dental topics. I am not a dentist or a dental nurse but I have recently undergone a lot of dental treatment. This treatment has given me a great insight into the world of dentistry and I would like to share everything I have learnt with you here. Last year, I developed terrible pain in my mouth. I was diagnosed with severe tooth decay. The dentist removed the problem teeth and then inserted false ones in their place. He also whitened my teeth to improve my smile. I hope you find my blog useful.

Can Kids with Asthma Have Fluoride Varnishes?

Dentists sometimes paint fluoride gels onto teeth that are damaged or that are likely to get damaged in the future. An extra coat of fluoride can head off some decay and enamel problems, reducing the risk that a tooth will need more treatment in the future. If your dentist thinks that your child needs this kind of treatment but your child has asthma, then your dentist may question you closely about your child's condition.

Why You Should Never Ignore a Dental Abscess

Have you had a nagging pain in your mouth for some time which refuses to go away? You may suspect that this is something to do with poor dental hygiene over the last months, but you have been putting off a visit to the dentist for one reason or another. You do need to be careful, however, as this may be the formation of an abscess, which, if you're not careful, can lead to other complications.

Should You Use Teeth Whitening Strips?

There are many different methods of teeth whitening—some involving professional supervision and some that can be done at home. One common method is to use teeth whitening strips, which are easily available from supermarkets or pharmacies. But are they the right solution for you? They may be for you if: You're on a budget. Whitening strips are one of the cheapest methods of improving your smile. It will certainly be cheaper to pick up a packet at the store than to visit the dentist.

Baby Come Back! The Premature Loss of a Baby Tooth

To lose a permanent, adult tooth is undoubtedly a massive inconvenience. This inconvenience can certainly be overcome, whether it's via a traditional dental implant, a dental bridge, or even removable dentures. But what about when your child loses a baby tooth? Sure, this is meant to happen, and yet it's supposed to occur according to a schedule with the baby tooth falling out due to the growth of the permanent adult tooth beneath it.

5 Specialized Types of Dentists and How They Can Help You with Your Teeth

Like comparing a GP to an ENT, endocrinologist or anaesthesiologist, there are also specialised types of dentists. To change from being a general dentist to a dental specialist, one is often required to complete years more of training and study, on top of the years first spent studying to become a dentist. And like with the many specialisations of doctors, because dentistry can also be needed in emergency situations, it may pay to learn a few of the names of these specialisations, what exactly they do, and what problems they can treat.

How to Deal With Bad Breath

We all wish to have a bewitching smile with a dazzling dental formula. However, not everyone is lucky to enjoy such a smile and fresh breath. Some do not even know they have bad breath until a courageous friend has the guts to tell them their situation. Bad breath not only affects your confidence levels but also your relationship with other people. Your partner may not have the morale to give you that romantic kiss.

    Dealing With A Toothache

When it comes to dental emergencies, a quick response is always the key to preventing the loss of your tooth and reducing pain.  A toothache is one of the dental emergencies you may have to deal with. It can be mild or severe depending on the underlying issue. It can be a result of a range of dental issues such as a cavity in your tooth, a cracked or chipped tooth or filling, or sensitivity resulting from the thinning of the enamel or receding gums.
